“Human rights are the cornerstone of a just society, deserving unwavering protection and advocacy.”
Yenny Caribay Araujo Guillén is an architect and activist passionate about drawing, the arts and universal history. He was born in the state of Mérida, Venezuela. He completed his architecture studies at the Universidad de los Andes in 2003. In addition, he specialized in a Master’s Degree in Business Management at the Universidad Fermín Toro in 2011.
Yenny joined the TATUY Ecological Mountaineering group (CO.MO.ECO TATUY) in the state of Mérida, where she fought tirelessly for the defense and protection of the environment and the living beings that inhabit it.
In 2007, Yenny began teaching classes at the Territorial Polytechnic University, located in the same state. During his time as a teacher, he taught various subjects, including Environmental Impact, Professional Development and Ethics, Civil Construction and Society, Graphic Expression and Social Management. However, due to the difficult political, social and economic situation in her country, she was forced to abandon her academic career in 2022. The safety and well-being of her family, especially her daughters, led her to seek refuge elsewhere.
Since arriving in Iceland, Yenny has shown remarkable adaptability. He has been studying the local language and, at the same time, has joined an activist group in November 2023. His role in this community involves monitoring, support, activity commitments and operational logistics.
Yenny’s courageous career as an activist and her dedication to the environmental cause are exemplary. His story inspires others to fight for a more sustainable and just world.
